28.01 Wed (ClouDy)
My CNY is pretty quiet. I can't move too much. CNY eve was my at my grandparents' place. They have pass away but my family refuse to sell their flat as they find it a good place for gathering. HDB been bugging them to sell. So they had to put it in the market but quote a high price. I spend the whole CNY eve eating. Since I have lost 2 Kg and been losing my appetite. I decide I better try to eat more. So my aunties and uncles been feeding me with food all day long. Surprisingly, I got my appetite back and started to have cravings again! That feeling is great. Really hate to eat for the sake of eating. My cousin Rouyi is around too. She's 5 mths pregnant with a little boy too. Her EDD is 13.06.09. Almost one month difference but our tummy is totally different. Mine is BIG! A lot bigger!
I spent CNY 1st day at my Godmum's place. I brought my Wii with me to entertain myself and my cousins for the whole day. Everyone was really into the games ( Raving Rabbits 3) but the room is too small and we kept hitting each other! My Aunties and cousins love it. And a wonderful day eating too! I went to weight myself and I'm on track. Put on 1kg liao. Now 72kg. Shawn got me a nice foot massage bath frm Watson. Now I can enjoy feet bubble bath! It's really comfortable.
2nd Day was at my mother's rich brother 6.5 million house at sixth ave. Wow! It's a nice house with swiming pool surrounding the place. But it lacks a homely and comfortable feel. Too hotel like. Not somewhere I would like to stay at. I had only dumplings for lunch cos they only serve dumplings. Really weird. My cousin was frm Shatec. He taught me and my sis on the basics of making soup. I had to learn so I can make stuff for myself to eat and for Nigel in future. The trick is to fry ur stuff 1st and to add in rock sugar. I went to my MIL place later and had my dinner at my another uncle's house.
Think I walked too much and had cramps at night. I took the medicine but don't feel any better. My womb felt really sore and tight plus little Nigel was really active. Shawn can feel his little hands and feet from my tummy! You can see little bumps near the belly button and a little bump one near the left side. So cute!
Got a chinese name for Nigel liao. Given by my FIL but not confirm yet. "Yang Zhen Jiang". "Yang" is his surname, "Zhen" is his middle, have to follow the family bible, different generations is different. "Jiang" is his last. My FIL explained that the sound for last name have to be higher than the second. Plus "Jiang" is the yellow river in china. Powerful and people worship the river. Plus it's always in abundance. The name also has all the elements, water, soil, metal and fire. So it's a good name but sounds a little "china". But good names always sounds like that.

Resting at Home.

Shawn had a tok with his mum. She agreed that I should have taken no pay leave long ago and rest. She has been nagging at me to stay at home actually. So Shawn and moi finally decide to take no pay leave. Also after reading about preterm babies and looking at their pictures it's really heart breaking. Don't want my Nigel to suffer. Also, It cost roughly 32k to stay in Neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) for 5 months. If Nigel is born before 30 weeks, he have to stay in for about 5 mths.
So Called my Manager yesterday to request for no pay leave. Luckily She's understanding and agreed to it. She helped me called up HR. Turn out that HR is pretty good. They ask me to request hospitalisation leave from my doctor 1st since I have 60 days. Then I can clear my 18 days AL after that. When everything is used up then go for my no pay leave. At least I still can get some basic pay still. Though not a lot but at least it's something. My doctor can only give me hospital leave roughly for 2 weeks then she will extend it. Cos I might deliver anytime so cannot give one time straight.
Everyday I tell Nigel to be a good boy and stay inside his little house as long as possible. Otherwise come out already got so many tubes and needles poking. My cramps are still the same. The duration is shorter. WIll stop half an hour after medications. But the medicines is making me giddy and I'm losing my appetite. But I try to force food down. I can't afford to lost anymore weight. Hope Nigel can stay in my womb till at least 34 weeks. Suppose to go for my weekly jab today but the clinic is close. Going to NUH tomolo for my jab. Sighz.

Preterm Labour ! To take or Don't take No Pay Leave??

Another visit to A/Prof Mary Rauff today. I have lost 2 kg in 1 weeks due to my fever and flu. A/Prof Mary Rauff advice me to take off from work to stay at home as my condition would not improve, in fact if I push myself too hard I might end up having preterm labour. So bed rest will be the best option for me. Sighz.. How now??
She gave me another 3 days MC and ask me to seriously consider. She explain that normally cramps will only start around 30 weeks but mine seems much earlier and the cramps will actually increase. My condition is similar to someone who is having twins now. She's giving me Proluton injections weekly plus Salbutamol to take 3 times a day. But Salbutamol which suppose to help with cramps, unfortunately has very bad side effect on me. I had bad episodes where I have difficultly breathing and my heartrate goes up to 100 plus per min. So now I'm on a another medicine, Nifedipine. Side effect dizziness and my blood pressure will go down. If I have headaches or bad water retention I have to see her immediately. But A/Prof Mary says my body will get use to the medications and soon it will not work. Then I can't prevent the worst.
I posted my condition on Singapore Motherhood forum. The mothers there advice me to bedrest. There is a mum with similar condition. Her baby was delivered at 29 weeks. I'm really afraid as Nigel is only 24 weeks now. I initially hope I can pull thru to at least 36 weeks. There is another mum also, baby delivered at 24 weeks. Had to stay in the hospital for 6 months! Wow ! Can't imagine the bills! She told me some parents have to sell their flat to pay the hospitals.
On bright side, I have sign up with stemcord to store little Nigel's cord blood. I collected the kit today. I hope everything will go well as there is a min amt they have to collection plus if there is any fungal infection, they have to discard the blood. Also, little Nigel kicks are getting stronger, when he kicks you can actually see a little lump on my tummy. So Cute !!

My Grandfather..

I dreamt of my grandfather yesterday night. He pass away more than a year ago. He was playing with little Nigel in the dream. I guess he's trying to tell me that he's looking after Nigel and not to worry too much. I woke up crying. My parents been praying to my grandparents to look after Me and Nigel. It's my grandfather way of telling me everything will be fine.

Sick and Alone..

I sick alone with low grade fever. And where's Shawn? Out with his unsympathetic friend Tommy, watching GIRLS playing basketball !! Shawn agreed not to go at 1st to accompany me. Then that friend of his make a big fuss. He actually say what's wrong with leaving your sick wife at home alone!! Or bring sick little me along!! Can anyone imagine that ! What kind of person is he! Shawn decided to go in the end. I was so upset I cry at the food court, didn't finish my soup and went all the way home. I was on the bed crying since. Shawn just pat my head and left me in bed crying and went off ! How unfeeling guys can be !I have not eaten anything for the whole day. Too upset and sick to eat. Now my fever has went up. My tummy is in pain and so is my chest from all the coughing. I admit I'm unreasonable but what's wrong with wanting ur hubby to spend look after u when u are sick. Not like I want to be sick! I hope I can be healthy, running around like most mothers. Do my job well and get more money for Nigel! Guys can be totally unfeeling! Pregnancy is risky business! Really Abhor that fren of his!

Just went to Raffles Medical at the airport T3, My fever went up to 37.6 so Shawn brought me to the doctors. Got another day MC. Really worried about Nigel cos having fever is not good for the baby..

Pregnant and Sick.. Cord Blood to keep or donate??

I'm down with slight fever, body aches, cough and flu. It really feel a lot worst when u are pregnant plus having cramps. Tummy and chest feel really painful when i cough. I struggled to get to Raffles to get my weekly injection, today is no. 15. Wonder will I hit no. 30??
I went home to take a nap after that. Felt worst when i woke up, aching all over plus tummy is sore. Luckily the cramps is not so bad today, maybe due to the injection. But I had really Dark brown spotting. Wonder if it's due to the cough? I'm taking cough medicine now. No choice since I think coughing will be worst for Nigel. Poor Nigel, he must been thinking got earthquake inside. My poor baby. Hope I will get well soon.
On the brighter side. We were thinking of donating or keeping Nigel's cord blood for sometime. Donation is totally free, and can save lives, so it's like getting good karma for Nigel. But after weighting all the pros and cons. Shawn and I decided to keep Nigel's cord blood since there is history of Leukaemia at Shawn's side. Shawn's side has a very colourful history of all kinds of disease so we felt safer to keep. Plus cord blood can be use to cure a lot of disease now and more in future. Better safe than sorry. We will be keep with Stemcord. Registration fees is now at promomtion price of $600 suppose to be $1500 which can be paid using the baby bonus and cash gift, kindly given by our dear beloved government. Yearly will be $250. We will be meeting with the Stemcord Staff at my next appt with A/P Mary Rauff on the 21st. But the scary thing is they will need 2 vials of blood from moi after delivery.. Sobs.. Scary..

Pain Chart..

Shawn and moi went to A/P Mary Rauff yesterday cos I got cramps for the past 3 days. A/P Mary says my womb is too hard. If the womb is too hard which means it's very stretch which will cause contractions and cramps actually. I have a make a "pain" chart. I have to write down what time i took the medicine and when the cramps start and stop so she can adjust my dosage. I have to go back next wed to see her again.
Little Nigel is pretty notti yesterday night. I was trying to sleep but he kept kicking. Shawn tried to coax him to see but he refused to. Finally after half an hour he finally stop.
Wanted to go for my injection at Raffles today but the clinic was close. Sighz. Wasted trip... Going again tomolo...

Another Depressing Day..
09.01 Friday..
I had my 14th injection today at Raffles Women Centre at Compass point just before going to work at 1pm. I thought I'm sort of immune to all the injections by now but it still scares me a lot. Suppose to get the injection on Wed but the Centre was closed plus I was working full shift on thrus. Wonder how I'm going to go for the injections on a regular basis.. Anyway it cost $45 per time..
I was feeling really drain, numb, blur, cramps and tired today. Wonder if it's the injections plus medicine I'm taking. Nigel is kicking less today too. I guess he's feeling the same way as me. I offered to clear the ops rejection at work today too like yesterday, i'm really not up to doing anything else. The rejects were pretty complicated too. I had to call back a few customers and kanna scolded by some too. But at least I'm sitting down. But in the evening I still end up doing sales which make me feel worst with all the walking around. Plus the chairs have no back support so my back ache is getting worst even thought I'm wearing the back support belt.
Now i'm back home after supper and a good bath. But I'm still feeling really drain and tired now. Sort of like too tired to sleep even. Plus my heartbeat is really fast, feeling breathless, having cramps and my chest hurt. Tomorrow I'm on full shift. Really wonder how I'm going to make it. Really feel like crying sometimes. Just feel like giving up. I know I'm suppose to try to think happy stuff and not let myself get depress but it's really hard with all the complications plus working in this kind of job. Sighz. Wonder when will stuff get better. My blog is getting pretty depressing :(
One good thing that happen this week is Shawn gotten me a new handphone using his staff voucher. It's Asus M980, It's a window mobile 6 smartphone, my fave software with Qwerty keypad. Fun to use but battery life is pretty short and it's not touchscreen. But at least it's cheap.

Cramps and Cramps

I had cramps again at work. Started on Friday evening, it was a little painful. Then on Sat, i had really bad cramps frm 430 to about 830. It's really painful. Thank God, Nigel kept kicking so I know he's fine. I was thinking whether to go to ER anot but decided not to and wait. After taking 2 horomone pills, it got better. I went home after my night closing duties at about 1015pm.
On Sun, I was resting at home. At about 4am, the pain started again !! Sighz. Can't sleep after that. I went down all by myself to NUH to see A/P Mary Rauff on mon. Waited there for about 2 hours before my turn cos she had an operation to perform. Nigel was ok. A/P Mary gave me another type of medicine to take, half a pill 3 times a day. It's similar to my asthma medicine. It makes my heart pump faster. It's really uncomfortable after taking the medicine but the cramps became a lot better. But I'm trying not to take the medicine so much.
Yesterday night at about 2am, I had cramps again. This time on the lower tummy area only. From Ting, lower tummy is okay but not the whole tummy. So I was not so worried. Can't sleep again. I gave up after 2 hours and went to take my medicine. The cramps became better today.
It's 3.35 pm now. Nigel has not kick me the whole day. I'm really worried. I tried shaking my tummy but no response from Nigel. Luckily I have the doppler. I can detect his heartbeat so at least I know he's alive. But he's too quiet. Normally he kick me very often at least within 2 hours interval. Should I panic??

He did kick me around 4pm and has not really stop since. I think he's angry with me for shaking him. He he he ... Anyway my cramps are starting again.. Sighz.. How to work tomolo? I have to work from 1030am to at least 1030pm, 12 hr shift. Then on Friday 1.00pm to at least 1030pm, then on Sat 1030am to 9.30pm. Nigel's Detailed Scan..
31st Dec Wed, Sunny
Today is Nigel's big day, his detailed scan at 21 weeks. The results is good. He's 450g. And he has big feet. His femur length (which is his thigh) is above average at 39mm. The whole scan took more than 1 hr cos Nigel is a really Notti Boy!
We had the scan done by A/P Mary 1st. Nigel was a good boy at first, he was facing mummy and daddy. A/P Mary is really great. She explained what she was doing step by step.
We had the Down Syndrome test which is done by scaning between the folds of the neck, which at 4mm. As long as it's below 6mm, it's negative. Then We went on to scan the brain and organs, which is developing well. A/P Mary couldn't get a good view of his little heart. She had to check if there is any hole in the heart. After 15 mins, I had to go to Antenatal Diagnostic Centre to use higher definition ultrasound machine. We waited there for 20 mins. The Sonograher, Ms Dawn, tried to scan the heart, but little notti Nigel was covering his chest with his little arms and was still lying on his tummy. Dawn then decided to scan the other organs 1st hoping that Nigel will change position later. Dawn is really nice too. She also explain to me and Shawn the different organs, positions and results. I manage to understand what was going on since I had studied Biotechnology and read lots of books on pregnancy. So it's was a really informative session.
After 15 mins, the notti boy is still lying on his tummy. We tried to coax him to move, Dawn tried to shake my tummy, I also tried to lay on my side. But no use still. In the meantime, Dawn scan his little face but he was using his hands to cover his face, he did that at A/P Mary too !! He was moving his lips which was really cute. In the end, another Doctor, A/P Arijit had to come in and try to scan his heart. After a long 15 mins with Nigel still not co-operating, A/P Arijit somehow manage to get some good pictures and video. He showed us the blood flow in colour. Also the blood flow from me to Nigel from the womb. And he gave us a 4D scan!
But Nigel is as usual a little Notti Boy, he kept moving and we couldn't get a good picture. The picture above is the best one, we can only get a side view cos Notti Boy is covering his face. You can see his eyes which's pretty big plus they look like my mum's. He got my forehead and high cheekbones ! He's a really cute boy.. just like his mum ! But notti like his Daddy !! he he he.. His sleeping position is like his daddy's too. Nigel is a very reactive baby. You can play with him. He will actually response when you tap on the tummy or talk to him. He love kicking his daddy's face. So i guess the scan really irritated him with all the poking so we can't really blame him for being so notti.
And today's bill is $1051 !! Cos $930 is for the prenatal package, the rest is for my medical and injection. Luckily, the detail scan is included inside the prenatal package and we got a FOC 4D scan !
Good new is my placenta has finally moved high enough so I can go for natural birth. I also had my 14th injection today, I had my 13th injection last friday. I have to take injections weekly now. Sighz. My feet is really swollen now. I had to change all my shoes! Plus I'm having blister in between my last toes of my left feet. Sobs.. I started work already but I'm will get pains if I try to do counter work for about 2 hrs. Sighz. Another 4 and a half months to go... How to tahan !
