Lil Nigel is Sick ...

Poor Nigel is Down Down Down with Fever. I suspect he was sick on Sat already. He was crying for my mum in the middle of the Night so I had to carry him over. He fell asleep really fast the moment my mum carried him. Next morning, Shawn and I pop over my Mum's to see him before We leave for work but the Lil Guy was still sleeping which was odd but we thought he was just tired. Later on I receive a call that he had fever. I was really worried but No PD was open unless I want to bring him to KKH. But I dun really trust the Doctors there plus with all the sick patients there. So decided to wait till Monday to bring him down. Luckily my manager changed my Off for me to Monday. Shawn and I brought him to Dr Teoh at 10am yesterday. His fever was gone. Everything was ok. The moment we got home, my Dad realise tat his Fever has came back. It kept creeping higher and higher. At 1130pm, it was at 39.2 ! Poor Boy.. Shawn and I couldn't really sleep the whole night. Luckily Morning at 9am, his fever drop to 37.6 but can feel he's starting to heat up again. Dr Teoh told us to bring him in immediately if his fever went up again or if he start to vomit.. Now at 3pm, he seems fine. **cross my fingers**

4th Month Doctor Visit.. First Visit to Ye Ye's House

Shawn and I happen to on Off together so we decided to bring forward Nigel's 4th month Doctor visit to today instead of on the 11th. Brought Nigel to swimming early and of cos had a massage too. Came back home to let him take a nap but instead he was wide awake. Since my car is "off peak", we could only leave the house after 3pm. Thought it's not really legal to drive him in a 2 seater, we decide to just do it instead of taking cab. It's really hard to get a cab during weekends.

As usual, Shawn's mum was there at the clinic too. Nigel is 6.06kg and 66cm !! Wow ! He's really tall. He had his Oral Vaccination for Rotavirus. Poor Boy had to go thru 2 jabs, his 5 in 1 and Pneumococcal. He wasn't in pain.. he was looking at the Dr Teoh even thought we were trying to distract him. He was ok with the first jab then suddenly decided to scream. After a while, he was ok. Dr Teoh mention that once I stop breast feeding, he will recommend that I get some jabs too !! Alamak, I hate injections. I will have to bring my blood test reports which I did during my pregnancy. He said I might need to get the measles vaccination again as the previous one which I did when I was in Primary school will last only 20 yrs... So I'm overdue for one. Also he recommend I get one for cervical cancer. SobS.. Me hate needles. Anyway, He gave the green light to start feeding Nigel cereals and gave us a lot of samples. We are to replace one meal with cereals and to feed him papaya too.

We drop by Shawn's parents' place. To my surprise, Nigel didn't cry even though he was in a strange place. He was happily playing with his Ye Ye !! The last time Nigel saw him was more than a month ago ! And Nigel Hates strange places plus strangers. My mum says they have affinity. I even manage to capture a great photo. I really should bring Nigel over more often. But everytime I will to do it, something happens.

Sighz, Back to work again tomolo.. Miss Nigel.. Sighs.. Hate it !!

LiL Nigel Boy Boy is 3 months old yesterday. My Mum, Dad, Pam, Terence and of cos Me and Shawn went with Nigel to Airport T3 for a nice dinner at Xin Wang Cafe. We brought along his Bumbo chair so he can sit by himself and we all can eat instead of taking turns to carry him.

Nigel also went for his vaccination earlier on at Dr Teoh. He's a brave Lil Boy. Scream only during the Injection. Stop right after the injection was done. In fact, His mood seems better after the injection. He was smiling and toking to Shawn's Mama aka grandmama. He's 5.45kg and 61cm now. A bit light still but full of tough muscles, thanks to all the swimming he's been doing.

Another 20 more days with him and I have to go back to work. SighS..........

Lil Nigel's 2nd PD visit.

Lil Nigel went for his 2nd PD visit on 06.07.09. He didn't grow much, only 4.5kg. SobS.. He also had his Oral Vaccination for Rotavirus. Poor Boy had to go thru 2 jabs, his first 5 in 1 and Pneumococcal. Dr Teoh however is really skillful. He used one needle for both jab so the poor boy doesn't have to go thru it 2 times and he did it in last than 30seconds !! It was a really open eyer !! Nigel is one brave Boy. He didn't cry But he did scream ! His whole face turn purple but after the needle was out, he was totally ok. Nigel's tear ducts have open up already. And his legs are fine !! YaPpPEe !!

Doctor Teoh ....

Lil Nigel went for his PD visit on 10/06/09. We decided to go to Shawn's ex PD, Dr Teoh and Mount Elizabeth. He's very experience, 73 year old liaoz. The reason we didn't go there at first is the cost. He's really expensive and over there, we cannot use the baby bonus to pay. But Nigel's health is more important than $$$$.

The appointment is at 245pm. Shawn, Moi and his Mum and of cos Baby Nigel was there at 2.30pm. I expected to be greeted with a crowd of People at his clinic as most PD clinics but we were the only customers !! Shawn explained that he is selective about his patients and will only see those recommended by people he knows or his old patients , as he's semi-retired. He seeing us cos he was Shawn's family PD for a really long time and he's pretty close to Shawn's mum.

The nurse took Nigel's measurement using really antique equipments! It's been there ever since. Shawn use those before when he was a baby. Nigel is now 4.07kg and 54cm ! He was only 2.410kg when he left NUH.

Dr Teoh gave Nigel a very careful examination. His ears are fine, very alert. Right eye and nostril is slightly infected mainly due to the blocked tear ducts which he thinks will open up by itself. He gave me some eye CREAM for Nigel. His legs is ok. Will be curving out till about 3 years old. It will slowly correct itself. And Swimming is a good way to correct the problem. He gave Nigel rota virus vaccination which is taken orally and Hep B booster shot. Have to come again around 1st week of July for his 5 in 1 Jab. Dr Teoh advice not to take 6 in 1 as baby have to follow injection timing while 5 in 1 follow baby timing. If miss the booster, 6 in 1 have to re-take while 5 in 1 dun have to. Also, the red mark at the back of Nigel's head is called Angel's Kiss, will disappear after a few months. No need to worry.

Dr Teoh was very patient and took the time to explain a lot of things and gave me tips which a normal PD would not as they have too many patients to attend to. In short:
1. I have to take Rice Milk or Soya milk and also continue with my GNC prenatal pack.
2. Don't take strawberries, garlic and onions, still have quite a few but those I dun take so forgot wat are those liaoz.... All these will cause Nigel is have wind.
3. Don't pat Nigel too fast cos will make him panic. Always Stay calm and baby will be calm. he show me a new way to burp Nigel which not only is effective but will calm Nigel down when he's crying. Hold him out and slowly move him up and down.
4. When Nigel cry, if not time for feeding, first check diapers, then blurp him, still doesn't work, rub the tummy cream that he gave me, still doesn't work then give Nigel the medicine for wind.
5. Slowly stretch the feeding hours to 6 hrs. Baby grow faster when they are sleeping.
6. Always keep fever medicine for Nigel at home in case he got fever. Going to ER in the middle of the night is damn expensive !
7. For breast feeding position, hold his butt in and let him feed the nipple, no need to bring nipple to him. Dun suckle on one side more than 15 mins.
8. Dun need to put any cream on the heat rashes.

Total Bill: $240, He didn't charge consultation fees !!! Wow ! For 2 vaccinations, fever medicine, eye cream, windy medicine, tummy cream..

Jaundice.. Tear Ducts.. SighS

My Poor Baby got admitted to NUH again for Jaundice on 12 May 09. On 11 May, his level was 270 which was pretty high. On 12 May, it was at 319 !! He had to go for phototherapy overnight ! My Poor Lil Nigel ! Shawn and I rushed back home to get breastmilk for him which I had pumped out. Also I brought my pump along. My Poor baby had scratches and rashes all over. My heart really aches when I see him. I was crying the whole day, not only because of Nigel, but also cos Shawn had to go back to work the next day !! Nigel is due to check out then ! I was so pissed off and Angry ! His Son is in the hospital and he can go back to work !! I'm damn piss with his Damn Company !! No paternity leave and plus his Damn Company due to lack of staff cannot extend his leave and had to go back to work !! What kind of BIG company is that !! Luckily I left his company long long time ago !

Luckily My sis, Pam offered to help. She and her hubby picked me and my Confinement Nanny up and drove me to NUH. Her poor Hubby had to wait for us for more than 2 hrs. Finally Nigel was discharged at 230pm and the Doctor told me he could leave at 1pm ! Sighz.. His poor feet had so many needles marks as they had to do blood test for him every 6 hrs.

Next day, I had to bring him to the PD, Dr Allyson at Kids' Clinic to check his jaundice again. His tear duct on his right eye has not fully open. Happen to only 10% of babies. Will be Prone to eye infection. 99% of the babies will recover by 1 year old if not, have to go for operation. My Poor Poor Boy !! But Good news also, his jaundice has improved, droped to 158.
